It has been generally assumed the House of Commons of Australia was all for supporting the bill to let women be able to vote. This was only because they were very grateful for the work the women had done during the war. There had been a
similar vote to this in 1911, because of this Marin Pugh; one of many historians believed the bill was a continuation of what had happened before the war. Some say that the war can be credited for pushing the parliament to introduce the 1918 Act (World War One and Women, 2013).
In France, women did essential war work in the industry and agriculture. However, there was no history of any women’s movement for political rights prior to the war. All the government’s and country’s efforts were absorbed while the war was going on. (World War One and Women, 2013).
